We spent a few days with my sister and our favorite little guy. We made our annual gingerbread.

Christmas was lovely at my parent’s home. My nephew was baby Jesus.

Our baby has turned into a little girl so quickly. She wanted to ditch diapers and switch to a “big girl bed” long before we were ready but finally we gave in and she’s doing great with both. As she gets older, I can’t help the anxiety I feel about the world we live in. Recently during an episode of a fav show “Madam Secretary,” one of the characters, feeling similar to the way I and probably most of us feel, quoted the last part of the poem “Good Bones” by British actress, Maggie Smith.

“Life is short and the world is at least half terrible.
and for every kind stranger,
there is one who would break you,
though I keep this from my children.
I am trying to sell them the world.
Any decent realtor, walking you through a real hell hole,
chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right?
You could make this place beautiful.”

Up next in our blog circle is the amazing Breanna Peterson.

What a beautiful quote my friend. I am glad that one of these strangers I met was you, you are one of our favorite people. I love this set, and congrats to Claire for making it ‘a less than awful’ transition into being a child vs baby for you guys. We can’t wait to see you all again and I’m pretty sure by then the girls will have even more fun together…
