ABOUT

Hello! I am a portrait and documentary photographer based in Bountiful, Utah.

In the autobiography of one of my favorite photographers, Jacques Henri Lartigue, I love that he wrote that he grew up in a family who “marveled at everything.” That describes how I was raised. My mother taught us to marvel. “Drink in all that beauty” She’d say, arms stretched wide. I remember long drives in the mountains mesmerized by striped seas of aspen while munching on fig newtons and elbowing my brothers. We often went on walks, our heads turning left and right to see all the magic Mom pointed out. That continued marveling, combined with my ever-present urge to create, and my love for travel and human connection, led me to photography in my early twenties. I am grateful for the way it shapes and inspires me. In a nutshell, photography has me smitten with life.

I have been married to my favorite human for 14 years and we have three wonderful daughters who keep us on our toes. Adoption is an important part of our family as our oldest two are adopted. We live in Bountiful, Utah, close to Salt Lake City.

Along with portraits, at-home sessions, and never-ending personal projects, I volunteered several years for Their Story is Our Story, an NPO close to my heart. They collect and share experiences of refugees and I joined their team to help document refugee stories. Throughout my photography career, I count myself blessed with many inspiring influences that have shaped my work and person. Two key mentors that I am especially indebted to are Justin Hackworth and Kent Miles. Their continued help and support means the world to me.

My work has been featured and published in a variety of local and national online and print publications including Pictureline, KSL.com, The Deseret News, Habit and Home, Click Magazine, Halophyte Magazine, Family Share, Sham of the perfect, Long Way Home Magazine, Mozi Mag, Light Inspired and The Gratitude Collaborative. My work has been exhibited at The Springville Museum of Art, Artspace Gallery at Cornell University, and the Bountiful Davis Art Center. I am grateful for connections with each of these.
