“Drawing with Light”

I love patches of light, rays of light, soft light, indirect light, direct light, lamplight, moonlight, firelight, headlights, strings of light, holiday lights, backlight, dappled light…I think you get the picture. I love light and I’ve gotten to know it pretty well over the years as a photographer.  After all, the word photography literally means “drawing with light.” It took me a few years before I felt comfortable even calling myself a photographer because I wanted to make sure I understood light well.  I’m excited to share some of what I’ve learned in my photography course for youth (ages 12-18) called “The art of seeing with a camera” at the Bountiful Davis Arts Center starting the first week of June. Here’s a link to the BDAC’s website for more info. Hope you or your teen (s) can join us! And here are a bunch of random images with different lighting scenarios from the past. Cheers friends
